The Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® Teacher Training

This course consists of a HYBRID five-day training and follow-up consultation for mental health professionals and non-licensed community members. The primary focus of the training program is to educate participants about the biology and neurophysiology of trauma and stress as well as how to teach simple biologically-based wellness skills through CRM Workshops. Trainees learn the key concepts and six wellness skills of the Community Resiliency Model. The training is a combination of lecture, discussion, practice, and student teaching. Trainees practice the skills individually as well as in large and small group formats. Upon successful completion of the training and post-training requirements, the trainee achieves certification and can then begin to provide their own CRM Workshops to members of their organization, their community, and the general public. CRM workshops can be integrated into community-based programs, including mental health and public health programs, faith-based communities, and educational settings.

The cost of the five-day training, the follow-up consultations for one year and technical assistance is £950, which includes an annual licensing fee for non-exclusive use of the CRM materials ($200/2 years).

All certification requirements must be completed within 6-months of the original training date. The initial certification period will last 2.5 years beyond the original training date. Recertification is required every two years after that by taking a recertification seminar and meeting other minimal requirements that will be outlined during the training. Only the Trauma Resource Institute can train individuals to become CRM Teachers.

The Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® Teacher Training Program

The CRM Teacher Training Program teaches natural leaders of communities and mental health practitioners how to bring the model to their communities.  It is a biologically based, trauma- and resiliency-informed intervention that empowers individuals and communities to restore and sustain well-being by learning to regulate their own nervous systems. CRM is grounded in neuroscience, nervous system regulation, and public health principles. It teaches six practical wellness skills that help individuals identify sensations associated with well-being, track signs of dysregulation, and return to their “Resilient Zone”—a state of optimal nervous system balance.  Its applications span the lifespan and are adaptable across diverse cultural and linguistic contexts.

Equity-Driven, Community-Focused Approach:

Rooted in social justice and cultural humility, CRM prioritizes reaching populations most affected by trauma—including communities impacted by systemic inequities, disasters, violence, and historical or intergenerational trauma. It is a scalable model that promotes grassroots healing and mental health literacy without pathologizing human responses to adversity.

Systems Thinking and Community Psychology:

CRM recognizes that trauma and healing are embedded within relational, environmental, and systemic contexts. It advances a strengths-based framework that supports individual and collective resilience through empowerment, peer support, and sustainable capacity-building. CRM’s emphasis on community ownership and culturally responsive care makes it a transformative tool for both prevention and long-term recovery.
