This course consists of a five-day training and follow-up consultations for mental health professionals and non-licensed community members. The primary focus of the training program is to educate participants about the biology and neurophysiology of trauma and stress as well as how to teach simple biologically-based wellness skills through CRM Workshops. Trainees learn the key concepts and six wellness skills of the Community Resiliency Model. The training is a combination of lecture, discussion, practice, and student teaching. Trainees practice the skills individually as well as in large and small group formats. Upon successful completion of the training and post-training requirements, the trainee achieves certification and can then begin to provide their own CRM Workshops to members of their organization, their community, and the general public. CRM workshops can be integrated into community-based programs, including mental health and public health programs, faith-based communities, and educational settings.
All certification requirements must be completed within 6-months of the original training date. The initial certification period will last 2.5 years beyond the original training date. Recertification is required every two years after that by taking a recertification seminar and meeting other minimal requirements that will be outlined during the training. Only the Trauma Resource Institute can train individuals to become CRM Teachers.
Commuter Rate - $1625 (includes breakfast and lunch)
Retreat Rate - $1975 (includes lodging and three meals per day during training days)
Accommodations - As you enroll you will be able to select a single, twin or group room while spaces last. Each type of room has limited availability and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What is the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)®?
The Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® trains community members to not only help themselves but to help others within their wider social network. The primary focus of CRM is to educate individuals about the biology and neurophysiology of trauma, stress, and resilience as well as teach simple biologically-based wellness skills, which can help re-set and stabilize the nervous system. Through CRM, individuals learn to read sensations connected to their own well-being, which TRI calls the “Resilient Zone”. CRM’s goal is to help to create trauma-informed and resiliency-informed and -focused communities that share a common understanding of the impact of trauma and chronic stress on the nervous system and how resiliency can be restored or increased using this skills-based approach.
These skills will help you learn how to calm down when you are upset so you can engage the challenges you face from the best part of yourself. Learning to read our bodies’ signals when we are in different “zones” can begin to help us understand the different ways we respond to stressful situations.
