This course provides a comprehensive introduction to applying the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® and the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® when working with neurodiverse individuals.

Participants will learn to understand trauma through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, recognizing that neurodivergent individuals—whether they have Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AuDHD)—experience and respond to trauma in unique ways.

The course emphasizes the importance of affirming neurodivergent identities and challenging traditional, deficit-based models of care. Participants will gain the skills to create inclusive, empowering spaces that honor neurodivergent strengths while addressing their specific challenges.

Dr. Jamie Gamboa, PsyD (she/her) is a licensed psychologist specializing in neurodivergence and trauma. She brings her lived experience as a late-diagnosed autistic person with ADHD and dyscalculia to the therapy room. Dr. Gamboa is proud to be neurodivergent and is dedicated to helping her clients be proud of their neurodivergence too!

Dr. Gamboa is deeply committed to creating inclusive, affirming spaces, and to providing interventions that are LGBTQIA+-affirming, kink/non-monogamy-affirming, and sex-positive. Her therapeutic style integrates humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based techniques to meet the diverse needs of clients.

Additionally, Dr. Gamboa is passionate about suicide prevention and has extensive experience working with individuals whose lives have been impacted by suicide. She had the honor of serving as a counselor and supervisor at Didi Hirsch’s suicide hotline for five years and is a suicide loss survivor herself.
