TRM - Veterans and Warriors and the Treatment of PTSD and Chronic pain:
Funded by CSU Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology and conducted by Tara Victor, PhD of Veterans Administration, Los Angeles, this pilot study used the TRM-V, W Group model with OEF/OIF. The treatment is an 8-10 session group that teaches TRM-V,W stabilization skills. Assessment will include physiological monitoring (using 3 physiological indicators), keeping a pain and a resiliency diary, and standardized self-report inventories.
Feasibility study of TRM-V,W stabilzation skills pre and during deployment to Afghanistan
Funded by a consortium of donors in the private sector, this study provides TRM-V,W training to Army chaplains and provides them with an iphone/droid app that allows chaplains to listen to and practice TRM stabilization skills for self-care and with troops they serve. The study will track the frequency and time spent listening to the app to get preliminary data on dosage levels and benefits and will assess implementation issues encountered in using this independent form of deepening stabilization skills pre-deployment and in theater. Outcomes will also be assessed using standardized instruments as well as evaluation instruments developed specifically for this project.
